Selecting a cat sitting service is just as important as selecting a daycare facility for your child or a physician for yourself. They both require a great deal of consideration as they are built on confidence and trust just like the relationship you will have with your sitter. Most client/sitter relationships develop a strong bond as both you and your sitter will share the love and care for your pet.
Who is “No Cat Left Behind” Kitty Sitters?
Most of the time, your sitter will be Melinda, the owner and founder of No Cat Left Behind, who has owned and cared for cats most of her life or over 30 years. Occasionally, Jim, Melinda’s husband also helps out with the business. Jim also is a pet lover and has had cats and/or dogs for all of his life. No Cat Left Behind operated in the Northern Virginia area (Washington DC Metro area) before opening in Pennsylvania in 2008.
What happens at the "get acquainted visit"?
During this complimentary visit to your home the owner of No Cat Left Behind, Melinda (or occasionally Melinda’s husband Jim) will meet you and your cat(s) to get to know one another and become well informed on the care and attention that your pets and home will need while you’re away. If at this point you have not completed our paperwork then we will leave it for you to complete and mail directly to us. We like to receive the paperwork well in advance of the first visit so that if we have questions or need clarification we can ask you prior to your departure.
Are we bonded and insured?
Yes, we are covered under a general liability policy through Pet Sitters Associates, LLC.
Are we licensed?
The pet sitting industry is self-regulated, so there is no such thing as a professional license, which some other professions require. However, like most legitimate businesses we have a valid business license.
Can we provide references?
Yes! Please request in advance and we will provide a list of satisfied clients at our "get acquainted visit". If you would like to hear what our clients are saying about us prior to meeting us, please visit our client “Reference” page on the website.
Are we trained in Pet First Aid?
Yes! We are certified in pet first aid through the American Red Cross.
What Pet Associations are we affiliated with?
No Cat Left Behind is affiliated with Professional United Pet Sitters.
What type of animals do we care for?
We care only for cats and fish.
Do we offer boarding?
No. We believe in most situations the best place for the cat is in their own home environment. Cats are creatures of habit and so we come to your home and work around their normal routine. We understand that there may be special circumstances when a cat cannot stay at home and in those instances please contact us and we will try to refer you to a suitable alternative.
Do you charge a fee for picking up and dropping off my
house key?
When we meet you for our “get acquainted visit” we request one set of keys or your garage code. We do not charge for this, but if you decide you do not wish to keep the keys on file we may charge a minimal fee for dropping off or picking up keys, dependent on your location. If you would like to avoid the fee keys can be mailed. We prefer not to have keys hidden outside your home.
Do I need to stop delivery of my newspaper and mail?
No – we’re happy to pick up your newspaper and mail and any packages that may be delivered. We neatly stack your mail and newspapers in an area inside your home, which is out of sight from passersby.
Would you mind watering a few plants I have indoors
and outdoors?
No, we don’t mind at all and in fact that comes along with the service! Our main priority of course is loving and caring for your pet so if the plant watering is substantial we may charge a bit more per visit so that we can stay longer and make sure your pet is still getting plenty of special time with us!
What if I get delayed and cannot make it home to resume
care of my pets?
No problem, if you don’t check in with us upon your return home, we can continue to visit your pet upon your request until we either get a call or email from you! Before you leave on your trip we always like you to tell us what time you expect to return home and we request that you email or call once you arrive home. If we don’t hear from you we will try to contact you by email or phone but if unsuccessful we will stop by.
How is Payment handled?
Payment is always due in advance. We accept cash, check, or credit card. Please ask us if you would like to pay via credit card as we use Paypal. Checks should be made out to “No Cat Left Behind” Kitty Sitting, and there will be a $30 return check fee if needed.
